Well, good day! What to remember when pruning blueberries? Check out a short list of the most important rules:
🫐 Regardless of the age of the blueberry, start pruning by eliminating the most sprawling shoots that have dry tips at the ends.
🫐 Then, remove the shoots from the middle that have lost the battle to other, larger shoots taking away their light – such shoots will not bear fruit.
🫐 If you see that your blueberry has many young shoots, consider removing some of them and leave the strongest ones.
🫐 Remove shoots from the bush that lie on the ground – in such a position, the fruits will not ripen.
🫐 From the old, large shoots, select 2-3 pieces with strongly peeling bark and cut them out.
Follow these few rules, and your blueberry pruning will be as correct as possible. However, if you want to make sure it's really well done, send a question to our gardening expert available in the Plantis app under the "Problems" tab.
In our app, you will also find a super detailed and year-round blueberry cultivation plan.
