Garden tasks for March

  1. Prune trees and shrubs – Finish pruning fruit trees, berry bushes, and ornamental shrubs before they start budding.
  2. Prepare flower beds – Clean up leftover leaves, loosen the soil, and add compost to enrich it.
  3. Sow early vegetables – Start planting carrots, lettuce, spinach, and radishes in open ground.
  4. Feed your plants – Apply fertilizers to give perennials, lawns, and shrubs a strong start for the season.
  5. Divide perennials – If necessary, divide and replant perennials like hostas and daylilies.
  6. Check garden tools – Sharpen pruners, clean shovels, and get everything ready for the busy season ahead!

Tip: Keep an eye on the weather—if frost is still possible, delay sensitive plantings or protect young sprouts.
