In January and February, our app turns into a full guide for pruning fruit trees and shrubs. You can:

🍎 Scroll through the app and explore over 1,200 posts with videos and detailed tips on what and how to prune in your garden.
🍎 Search for specific topics, e.g., “blueberry pruning.”
🍎 Select your tree or shrub under “Crops” and see what to do in winter or January.
🍎 Find the e-book “Calendar for Pruning Trees and Shrubs” under “Publications,” explaining all types of cuts, instructions, and timings.

Why prune? Unpruned plants can become overgrown, are more prone to disease, and produce less flavorful fruit because sunlight can’t reach all branches.

Key points:
✂️ Prune by mid-March at the latest.
✂️ Train branches horizontally – your back will thank you.
✂️ Protect cuts with tree wound wax.
✂️ Better to prune incorrectly than not at all – it will grow back.
✂️ Older trees can be revitalized – see our “Saving Old Apple Trees” series in the app.
✂️ Young, unbranched trees can also be pruned (shorten the main shoot by 1/3, branches by 1/3).
✂️ Remove stubs correctly and prune water sprouts properly.
🌡️ Ideal pruning temperature: -5 to 0 °C.
