Which scions to use? Ideally, take one-year-old shoots, though two-year-old ones can also work. Collect them in autumn — before snow and frost arrive — and store them in a cool place until spring.

When to graft? In spring.

How to do it? Cut the scion at a slant and choose a branch of similar thickness as the rootstock. The cut surfaces should match in shape and length. Align the cambium layers carefully, then wrap the graft area with foil. Make sure the scion has 2–3 dormant buds left. Finally, seal the upper cut with tree grafting wax.
