Some cut flowers can stay fresh for as long as two or even three weeks.

Here are 9 flower species with the longest vase life:

🏡️ Chrysanthemums – last up to 3 weeks in water

Chrysanthemums can be grown from seeds when the ambient temperature is around 18–22Β°C. When the plants reach a height of 4–6 cm, they can be transplanted into larger containers or pots. They should be planted out in their permanent location once when the risk of frost has passed.

🏡️ Carnations – last around 2–3 weeks

You can learn when and how to grow carnations from the carnation growing plan in section "Crop plans" in Plantis.

🏡️ Alstroemerias – vase life of 2–3 weeks

The best time to sow them is late winter or early spring, as the seeds require stratification β€” a period of cold treatment β€” to germinate successfully. You can also sow them using the winter sowing method.

🏡️ Lisianthus (Eustoma) – up to 2 weeks

It takes approximately 5–6 months from sowing to flowering. They should only be planted out in their permanent location once the risk of frost has passed. Lisianthus usually blooms in summer and continues flowering into autumn.

🏡️ Gerberas – approximately 10–14 days

🏡️ Anthuriums – exceptionally long-lasting, up to 3 weeks

🏡️ Orchids – under the right conditions, they can last up to a month!

🏡️ Lilies – last 10–14 days in a vase, especially if the anthers are removed

🏡️ Freesias – last around 10 days

Good luck!
