Enjoy the taste of homegrown tomatoes long after the growing season ends!

Here’s how:

- Harvest before the first frost. Pick firm, healthy tomatoes before temperatures drop too low.

- Choose mature green fruits. Select tomatoes that have reached their full size, even if they haven’t started to turn red yet.

- Avoid damaged produce. Set aside any tomatoes that are cracked, bruised, or showing signs of disease.

- Store them properly. Arrange the tomatoes in a single layer in a cool, dry place at 13–18°C (55–65°F).

- Check them regularly. Keep the tomatoes out of direct sunlight and remove any that show signs of rotting.

- Speed up ripening. Place a few tomatoes in a warmer room or put them in a paper bag with a ripe banana to encourage them to ripen faster.
